Dental Crown and Bridge

Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps for your existing tooth, attached over your teeth to restore their original shape, strength, and function. They are cemented over your existing teeth, covering all the visible parts over the gum line. Porcelain crowns are tooth-colored dental crowns made of porcelain or ceramic, one of the most natural-looking materials for dental crowns.
Dental bridges are often used with porcelain crowns if you have missing teeth. Dental bridges are a series of fake or artificial porcelain teeth supported by dental crowns on either side. The artificial teeth sit over the empty socket of the missing teeth while the porcelain crowns are attached to the surrounding teeth, holding the bridge in place.

At Heathrow Dental, we examine your affected tooth to curate the ideal restorative treatment plan. We take impressions of your teeth to produce the most natural porcelain crowns to strengthen your teeth and improve its appearance.

Importance of Porcelain Ceramic Crown:

  • Protect a structurally weak tooth.
  • Treat a cavity or dental fracture that’s too large for other restorative procedures.
  • Restore a broken or severely worn tooth.
  • Cover a discolored, worn, or aesthetically ugly tooth.
  • Hold dental bridges in place.
  • Serve as replacement teeth over dental implants.
  • Make cosmetic modifications.
  • Protect a tooth that’s left weak and vulnerable after a root canal.

Dental Crown Procedure:

  • We first take x-rays and check the root structure of your affected tooth to determine if you are suitable for porcelain crowns.
  • If you have gum disease or infections, Dr. Daniel will need to treat that before proceeding.
  • Your tooth will be prepared to receive the dental crown. This involves filing down your tooth to a stub over which the porcelain crown or is placed.
  • We will make a dental mold of your teeth and take impressions of your teeth shade to send to the lab for the ideal custom crown.
  • Heathrow Dental will fit a temporary crown made of acrylic to hold you over until the permanent dental crown is prepared.
  • Once the permanent crown is prepared, the dentist will remove the temporary crown and attach the permanent crown with dental cement.
  • Once the porcelain crown is attached, we make some final adjustments.
